A fantastic exhibit opens on May 19th in Cashiers NC.  The Zachary-Tolbert House opens for the season on May 19 with a new exhibit, “Carts and Horses!”  The Zachary-Tolbert House is a museum known for its large and unique collection of hand-crafted ‘plain-style’ furniture. This historic property consists of the house and other outbuildings on a 5.76 acre site.  There are wooded walking trails, documented points of interest, and springs and streams. This is a place where residents and visitors to Cashiers NC can learn more about the history of the area and enjoy a spectacular setting.

“Carts and Horses!” is an exhibit showcasing antique folk art toys on loan from a private collection and will be located in Colonel John’s Cabin.  The theme is ‘Transportation Toys of the 19th Century.’ It is only natural that the bulk of these toys include horses and carts.  The opening of this fantastic exhibit will include an afternoon of fun for the Cashiers community, including games and toys for the kids.  The Zachary Tolbert House and Colonel John’s Cabin are open Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am until 3 pm.  The grounds and trails are open daily from dawn until dusk.
