Buying Highlands NC Real Estate, Skipping Inspection
Skipping the home inspection occurs from time to time when people are buying Highlands NC real estate. This is a choice for buyers and not one that is typically recommended. Waiving the inspection means a buyer could be caught by surprise. While a Highlands NC REALTOR would not recommend forgoing a home inspection, there are cases where it can make sense.
What about an as-is home?
When a buyer is under contract for an as-is home he still may want an inspection. If the home will be a fixer-upper a buyer should know the basics, like the condition of the roof, structure, and foundation. As-is means the seller is selling a Highlands NC home as-is, with no intention of making repairs or changes. However, an as-is home is not always a junker. Knowing what you are buying is important when investing in a home.
Why skip the inspection?
There are very few good reasons for not getting an inspection for a Highlands NC home for sale. After all, buying a home is a big investment and no one wants a surprise. However, with real estate buzzing nationwide right now many areas are seeing a backup of being able to schedule an inspector. As a result, some buyers are forgoing the inspection to speed up the process. Is this a good idea? Probably not but the choice is that of the buyer. An inspection can easily be overlooked if a home will be razed for redevelopment.
